Firm Files SEC Whistleblower Complaint against Meta for Facebook’s Role in Fomenting Rohingya Genocide
Today, we filed with the SEC a whistleblower complaint alleging that Meta turbo-charged the Rohingya genocide and lied to investors about policing its Facebook platform to ensure that hate speech likely to cause violence is removed. The company’s misleading statements continue unabated, and Facebook was again the preferred platform to foment ethnic violence against the Tigray people in Ethiopia’s ongoing civil war.
We are privileged to represent our whistleblowers: Maung Sawyeddollah, a Rohingya human rights activist and atrocity survivor; as well as senior personnel at Open Society Justice Initiative, Amnesty International and Victim Advocates International. This filing shines a light on Meta’s culpability in these human rights violations and their misleading of investors to shield themselves from accountability and appropriate legal scrutiny under the securities laws.
Here is Amnesty International’s media advisory: https://lnkd.in/e7-EMYPK. The full complaint is here.
